The city of Buckeye was founded in 1888 and is the western most community in the Valley of the Sun. Since Buckeye is only 35 miles west of Phoenix, residents can enjoy all the amenities and excitement of the big city, yet still return to the quite comforts of home. Buckeye has alot of Traditions
In 1935, the Buckeye Valley Chamber of Commerce started the Helzapoppin Days, which became a local tradition. The festivities included street dances, parade, carnival, and a rodeo. Proceeds were given to local churches that distributed the funds to the needy and for scholarships. Celebrities such as cowboy singing star Gene Autry attended the events. Similar local holidays, such as the annual Pioneer Days, are still celebrated in Buckeye today.
Buckeye is rapidly Growing
Buckeye is nestled at the foot of the majestic White Tank Mountains and offers magnificent views with unique and unparalleled landscapes. You can also enjoy hiking, biking and trail running. Buckeye is intersected by 5 highways, is home to a general aviation airport and served by the railroad, making it accessible from multiple points. The current population of Buckeye is approximately 20,000 but it is rapidly growing and projected to reach more than 400,000 by 2030.
Sun City Festival, a master planned active adult community, is located in northern Buckeye. One of the many amenities of Sun City Festival is the magnificent Copper Canyon Golf Club, an upscale 18-hole championship golf course. Lush green fairways, beautiful lakes and magnificent mountain views will certainly enhance your golf experience.
The Town of Buckeye Recreation Division hosts a variety of recreational activities including Youth & Adult Sports, Special Events, Special Interest Classes, Aquatic Activities, and Before & After School Programs. The facility offers a zero depth area with water features, a 10-foot high dive, low dive and an awesome 160 foot slide!
